Why Make Vinegar?

“Why Make Vinegar?” is the first social media post I made about making homemade vinegar.  I titled it that because I get this question a lot.  Why make it?  What do you do with it?  Why the weird flavors?

I go over most of this in the video (watch it below) but here are the high points:

  • Homemade vinegar is probiotic, good for gut health, digestion, and constipation
  • ‘Infused’ vinegars in the store aren’t always made directly from fruit or vegetables, it’s just something added to an existing vinegar to ‘infuse’ flavor.  Homemade vinegars have 100x the flavor!
  • You can store them in a bottle 5+ years
  • You can make flavors you like (strawberry + banana, or pomegranite + orange + lemon + lime)

One of the questions I get the most is “where do you get the bottles?”  I use swing top bottles as shown in my video – and you can buy them on Amazon.  I’m going to place two different options below, one for 16oz bottles, and another for the larger 33oz size.

16 oz swing top bottles This is a 6-pack of 16oz bottles like the ones I use in the video when I bottle the vinegar. Click here to see and buy them on Amazon.
330z swing top bottles This is a 4-pack of much larger bottles if you make a larger batch (33oz).  Click here to see and buy them on Amazon.
Homebrewed vinegar book You can spend countless hours online watching videos and reading about making homemade vinegar – or you can just get this book on Amazon.  It explains not only everything you need to get started, it also has some great recipes.  Kirsten is great at explaining both the science of fermenting and how to be exact, but at the same time easy ways to get started on your own.  You will love this book, click here to see all of the 5 star reviews on Goodreads!

These are my personal recommendations:

For multiple decades we used Comcast (Xfinity) in my house.  They didn't even get Gig Internet until 2023 where I live.  The service was throttled our streaming TV would buffer all the time.  Then out of nowhere Frontier installed fiber on my road.  I immediately purchased the "5 Gig" for the exact same cost as Xfinity and we've never looked back.  The entire reason I can go live anytime I want on social media now is because of the unlimited data and upload speeds with Fronter.  You should see if Frontier has fiber service whered you live, click here to check!

Mochahost - the best webhost I've ever used!

I started working online 30+ years ago for an ISP in Ann Arbor, MI that was also a webhost.  Because of that I expect a lot from my webhost.  I have used Liquid Web, Hostgator, GoDaddy, Bluehost, Siteground and many, many others over the years.  I have been with Mochahost now for several years, and their pricing, service, and support far outshines any webhost I have ever been with (and their online ratings, like Trustpilot, are very high because of that).  In addition, the speed at which my websites load (both front and backend) has never been faster.  Click here to learn more about Mochahost, I don't make recommendations like this lightly.
